TALFF 2026

Estonian children’s song goes: “Let’s build a house, let’s build a house – a lovely little feminist house”. Or so we dream.

Tallinn Feminist Forum (TALFF) will take place from 20–23 August near Tallinn, at the Copper Leg Art Residency.

Join the feminist summer camp! Rae school building turns into a breathing castle where both sharp ideas and moving bodies fit. Over four days, you get to meet old friends, make new ones, and build a castle from the ruins of the crisis. A castle that expands when space for others is needed and shrinks when there is a wish for more safety.

The programme includes talks and craft and movement workshops, both in Estonian and English. Plenty of time is planned for speed-friending, sauna and swimming as well.

Ticket sales for day tickets (15-30€), full pass (60€) or a supporter pass (120€) open in Fienta on June 29th HERE.

The ticket includes the possibility to sign up on the spot for the events in the programme, materials, guidance and vegan food on site.

Aleftina Shaulskaya workshop “Owning My Power” (ENG)
Many of us have been taught to be accommodating, not take up too much space, not express anger, not ask for what we need, and not be “too much.” As a result, our own power can come to feel dangerous, shameful, or simply out of reach. This workshop is an invitation to explore your relationship with power. What happens when you feel your own strength? How easy is it for you to take up space, be visible, influence others, say “no” and “yes” with confidence? What messages about power and womanhood have shaped you? Which ones support you, and which ones hold you back? Through experiential exercises, body awareness, reflection, and dialogue, we will explore what it means to reclaim our power gently and authentically—not by becoming someone else, but by coming home to ourselves. This workshop is open to anyone who wants to build a freer, more grounded, and more authentic relationship with their own power.

Aleftina Shaulskaya is a psychotherapist, Gestalt Practitioner in Organizations, and group process facilitator based in Tallinn, Estonia. Her work explores the intersections of power, leadership, gender, trauma, and relationships. She is particularly interested in how women reclaim their voice, take up space, become visible, and learn to embody their power without losing connection to themselves or others. Aleftina creates spaces where people can explore difficult experiences with curiosity, compassion, and support, finding new ways to connect with themselves and the world around them.

Mia Aintila conversation “Fempathy Academy” (ENG)
What kind of issues stop us from being heard or seen in our advocacy work, and/or everyday life? What stops us from hearing and seeing each other? What are the layers and structures of society that we as a collective, and we as individuals, have impact on? What are some skill and knowledge sets that could help us overcome barriers in society and in ourselves? Mia invites you to explore your own path in a combined discussion and ideation workshop.

Mia Aintila from Fem-R (an anti-racist, feminist NGO centering the voice of racialised minorities in Finland) joins TALFF to discuss the intersectionality of gender and marginalized identities and explore skills needed in impactful humanrights activism and advocacy work from the grassroots up.

Maria Uuetoa speed-friending (ET/ENG)
Speed friending is a simple way to genuinely and directly get to know another TALFF participant. You meet in pairs, take turns answering questions, and take time to listen to each other and get to know one another better. It is an opportunity to make new connections, share experiences, and feel part of the festival community.

Maria Uuetoa is an educator and team coach who believes that learning and growth happen in caring, inclusive, and collaborative environments. In her work, she supports young people’s self-development and the creation of safe spaces for discussion, bringing together the principles of education, youth work, and social justice.

Getriin Kotsar conversation “Atlas: sissejuhatus” (ET)
Vestlusringi fookuses on (linna)ruumi küsimused.

Getriin Kotsar is a freelancer. In her artistic practices, she mainly works with themes like memories, loneliness, dreaming and the passage of time. Right this moment she’s specifically interested in psychogeography. Her works, both performative and literary, are inspired by dreams, pop culture, the human body and everyday life. As an artist, she’s interested in spaces and atmospheres that are melancholic, liminal, offering refuge and with a little twist. In her works, she tries to balance fiction and reality, find small and large utopias, both individually and collectively and dreams of better and more opportunities for freelance artists.

Dagmar Kase movement workshop “Liikumisrännak” (ET, possibly ENG)
The movement journey invites you to experience a personal journey through conscious breathing, Shindo stretching exercises, and movement to feminist and queer dance music. The journey begins with a guided warm-up and ends with a guided cool-down. The movement of the middle part of the journey is based on the participants’ improvisation. The journey takes place in a safe, non-judgemental space — everyone is welcome, and everyone can move at their own pace.
Dress comfortably, wear indoor shoes (or socks), and bring a water bottle (non-carbonated). Also, bring a mat and a blanket (some mats and blankets will be provided on site). Eat a light meal about 1 hour before the journey, and avoid large meals and foods that are difficult to digest. Please put your mobile phone on silent mode during the journey.

The journey is guided by a vegan and queer feminist activist Dagmar Kase. She has been consciously focusing on holistic well-being for a long time, searching for and discovering practices that suit her.

Airi Triisberg “Pension, sugu, vaesus (ET)
Tänapäeva Eestis on peaaegu olematu sooline pensionilõhe, aga sellegipoolest on vaesuse määr eakate naiste hulgas kõige suurem. Õigupoolest on vaesus olnud juba aastasadu üksi elava vana naise nägu.

Descriptions of the events

Sandra Puusepp & Elise Marie Olesk conversation “Fish between the legs” (ET/ENG)
In December 2025, the Estonian Artists’ Association (EAA) presented awards and titles in the project space of the ARS Art Factory. At the same time, the gallery was hosting an exhibition by Vilen Künnapu focused on colourful cityscapes. During the speech by the president of the EAA, however, a monumental and brightly coloured painting titled “The Prime Minister’s Daughter” stood prominently in the background. In the background of the handshake photos, a gleaming fish could be seen between the legs of the naked female body depicted in the painting. According to the artist, female energy must be present in his paintings. But is female energy limited only to eroticism and degrading symbols?
The concern is not new: sexist symbols appear in acclaimed art, which can still be viewed proudly displayed in respected creative institutions. Should the Estonian Artists’ Association and the Cultural Endowment of Estonia take a clearer position and greater responsibility regarding their support for such exhibitions? What makes an artwork or exhibition feminist or misogynistic? What allows these successful artists to continue exhibiting and newly creating clearly misogynistic art? How many more times must we read phrases such as feminine energy and the supreme beauty of the female nude on the walls of art institutions in relation to exhibitions by male artists? How does this affect viewers’ attitudes towards women, both as authors and as depicted objects?
We will discuss exhibitions from the past five years that have been shown in the galleries of the Estonian Artists’ Association, at Kumu, and in other prominent galleries. A box for collecting thoughts is available during TALFF, where we invite everyone to share their reflections on the same questions. As a final outcome, we will create an open letter addressed to well-known art institutions, with the aim of shifting the current situation and encouraging them to take clearer positions and responsibility.

Sandra Puusepp (1997) and Elise Marie Olesk (2002) are contemporary artists whose practices mainly include printmaking and installation, as well as video and sound art. Both draw on new materialist, posthumanist, and feminist theories in their work. The artists are active members of groups such as Kvadraat and ENKKL, through which they have both organised and participated in several exhibition projects, conferences, and summer camps.
